Students and residents in Tyndall Park have a new place to walk, bike and connect with neighbours following the opening of the Fairgrove Park Community Trail at École Stanley Knowles School.
The Winnipeg School Division announced the official opening of the community trail Monday morning, saying it marks a significant milestone in community collaboration and outdoor recreation.
Community collaboration behind project
“This new trail at École Stanley Knowles School is the result of a dedicated effort among community partners, supporters, and funders who share a strong commitment to enhancing community well-being,” said the Winnipeg School Division in a press release.
The goal of the project was to create an accessible, active space that brings people together and promotes healthy living.
“Today, we’re excited to promote cycling and active living at Stanley Knowles and in the Tyndall Park community,” said Luke Barr, learning support teacher and leader in École Stanley Knowles School’s active living initiatives. “The Fairgrove Park Trail is a safe, welcoming space where people of all ages can build skills, connect, and experience the freedom of cycling. This is a legacy for our students and the community.”

Key partners in the project include City of Winnipeg Councillor Vivian Santos and Trails Manitoba, along with the ongoing support of Winnipeg School Division teacher Luke Barr and the École Stanley Knowles School Parent Council.
“Their leadership, advocacy, and commitment are instrumental in bringing this project to life,” said the Winnipeg School Division.
Ribbon-cutting ceremony planned
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
