Two more daily temperature records were broken on Vancouver Island on Wednesday, and one century-old one was tied, following a heat spell across the province.
Records were broken in Duncan and Qualicum Beach on June 24, and one was tied at the Victoria International Airport area, according to preliminary data from Environment Canada.
In Duncan, temperatures reached 32.4°C, narrowly beating the old record of 32.2°C set on the same day in 1940.
Meanwhile, Qualicum Beach hit a record high of 29.5°C, edging out the previous record of 29.4°C set in 2017.
While not a new record high, Environment Canada’s weather station at the Victoria International Airport saw temperatures reach 30.0°C on Wednesday, tying the record set in 1925.
In total, seven daily temperature records were broken across B.C. on Wednesday, including the three on Vancouver Island.
It follows another sweltering day across the province, when 21 daily temperature records were broken in B.C. on Tuesday, including eight on Vancouver Island.
