An annual competition at Moreton Hall Health Club has been hailed as a ‘true celebration of local fitness’.
Bury’s Fittest saw 150 athletes take part in the event at the health club in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday.
Athletes from the health club and other gyms competed in 10 challenges, including a sled push, barrel carries and tyre flips.

Lucy Carter, gym manager at Moreton Hall Health Club, said: “Many of our members spent months training for the event, becoming fitter, stronger and more confident along the way.
“Just as importantly, they built friendships and supported one another throughout their journey.”
“We were delighted to welcome athletes from gyms and fitness communities across the area, making Bury’s Fittest a true celebration of local fitness.”

“The camaraderie, encouragement and sportsmanship shown between competitors, regardless of where they trained, was fantastic to see and is a big part of what makes the event so special,” said Lucy.
“The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, with athletes, spectators, families and local businesses all coming together to create something truly special.
This year, the club introduced the winners’ trophy and a team award for Best Dressed Vibe, something Lucy said made the day ‘even more inclusive and enjoyable’.

“We’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better,” she added.
