Marina Mabrey made WNBA history by tying the most points scored in a single game. She drew a lot of attention for her performance, including former teammate Angel Reese‘s. The two-time All-Star center shared her reaction on X.
Mabrey scored 53 points, built on nine three-pointers, against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday. The veteran guard added six rebounds and two assists, while shooting 17-of-28 from the field.
Her dominant outing led the Toronto Tempo to a 125-97 win and tied the WNBA scoring mark that A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage set. She also achieved a +36 on the night.
Reese jokingly said that Mabrey proved her worth and could ride her Rolls-Royce. The phrase “RR” went viral as a nod to the luxury car and her on-court dominance, famously dubbed “Rippin Rebounds.” Her post was also in reference to a previous playful exchange they had.
