A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the 2023 fatal shooting of Mississauga resident Bryan Lara-Alvarez (pictured ) with Peel Regional Police announcing multiple arrests and charges this week.
The shooting occurred on March 20, 2023, shortly after 7:30 p.m., when officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Dream Crest Road and Alicante Street in Mississauga.
Upon arrival, police located 29-year-old Bryan Lara-Alvarez suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said a grey, newer-model four-door SUV was seen fleeing the area shortly after the shooting.
Following what police described as a complex and extensive investigation, authorities identified several suspects and executed search and arrest warrants that resulted in the seizure of a firearm and the arrest of four individuals.
Shamba Tull, 22, of Toronto, and Shammar Osbourne, 22, of Wasaga Beach, have each been charged with first-degree murder.
Talena Farquharson-Miller, 23, of Toronto, and Ahmed Hassan, 23, of Toronto, have each been charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon, device or ammunition knowing its possession was unauthorized.
All four accused remain in custody pending bail hearings.
