First William Eklund, then Samuel Ersson, and now, Andre Burakovsky. I’m SENS-ing a theme.
In order to bolster their lineup on the wings for next season, the Ottawa Senators have acquired 6’2 winger Andre Burakovsky from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2027 6th-round pick.

Burakovsky, 31, is coming off a 33-point campaign with Chicago, who finished second-last in the NHL this past season, playing most of his minutes with Connor Bedard (+5 goal differential at 5v5). He is in the final year of a five-year deal he signed with Seattle, with a $5.5M cap hit.
He last played up to the level of a top-six forward back in 2022-23, with 13 goals and 26 assists in 49 games with the Kraken, so it’s been a while. However, he’ll not only have quality teammates up front, as was the case with Chicago, but on the blueline as well.
