Shane Van Gisbergen rolled to a 95.483-mph lap in qualifying on Friday to claim the pole position for Saturday’s Pit Boss/FoodMaxx 250 at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series runs its final road-course race of the season. It’s the fourth year for the O’Reilly Series at the 1.990-mile circuit, with the race scheduled for 79 laps and 157.21 miles. Connor Zilisch won the event last year and will run on Saturday after qualifying 30th. Points leader Justin Allgaier starts from the eighth position.

The first stage of the race covers the opening 20 laps before a 25-lap Stage 2 and a final stage of 34 laps. The “250” in the race name comes from the race distance of 253 kilometers. Brent Crews starts alongside Van Gisbergen on the front row, with Taylor Gray and Anthony Alfredo on Row 2. Parker Retzlaff and Corey Day open on the third row, with defending series champion Jesse Love joining Allgaier on Row 4. Sam Mayer and Austin Hill, who won last week in San Diego, round out the top 10 starters.

With six races remaining before The Chase begins for the top 12 drivers in September, Allgaier owns a commanding 224-point lead over Love in the standings, with Day 238 points back, Sheldon Creed trailing by 240 and Hill 256 points behind.

Allgaier has five wins this season to go with 12 top-five finishes in 18 starts. Day and Hill are the only other multiple winners with two apiece. William Sawalich currently holds the 12th spot in the standings, five points ahead of Crews and nine points clear of Rajah Caruth.
