Fox’s Den opens at Mission Hills in Cranbrook

At the start of Mission Hill Golf Course’s third season under the ownership of Chris and Kimberly Carrier, the remarkable transformation of the golf course facility continues apace.
Mission Hills — 3320 Theatre Road in Cranbrook — opened it’s newly completed mini-golf course this weekend past — The Fox’s Den. Red fox sculptures skulk and frolic around the course’s 18 holes, which wind through Ponderosa pines and up, through and around the mountain with a sumptuous waterfall feature. A vintage 1930 Model AA Ford truck, parked halfway along the course, takes pride of place.
A grand opening is set for Sunday, June 28.
The Fox’s Den sits adjacent to Mission Hills’ club house and its 18-hole par 3 course, enhancing the “smaller golf” amenities.
“Mostly we were looking at it from the property perspective,” Chris said, of the decision to create the mini-golf course.
“Par 3 Golf is really exciting, but there aren’t quite as many playing Par 3 Golf as the big courses. So we thought we’d try to be the best of all the ‘little golfs.’”
The 18-hole mini-golf comes with the 48-site, 30-amp campground, which also opened up Friday, June 27.
“Campers love to mini-golf, and they need something to do,” Chris said. Perfect — a campground with it’s own mini-golf course.
The Fox’s Den is built in a West Coast style. Kimberly and Chris worked with Scott McCarty, of the Golf Park Company out of Surrey, to design the course. The centrepiece mountain and waterfall feature was designed and built by Westrim Construction out of Creston.
The fox sculptures were made by a Fernie artist, adding to the East Kootenay vibe.
Fox’s Den will also hosting “Date Night” golf every week. And ice cream is available to those hard-recreating mini-golfers.
The Fox’s Den and the new campground are part of the enhancements to Mission Hills Golf Course that includes Birdie’s Kitchen and Bar.
