Science North has officially unveiled its plans for Canada Day 2026, promising outdoor entertainment, indoor discounts, and a high-tech evening finale, all kicking off at 1 p.m. on July 1.

The outdoor grounds will come alive in the afternoon with live music, local vendors, inflatables, face painting and a variety of food trucks.

Inside the building, visitors can take advantage of discounts throughout the day including 50 per cent off general admissions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (free for members) and access to the IMAX and planetarium shows for $5 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., you can get access to the Earth Works exhibition for only $5.

The celebration will culminate in a spectacular dual-show evening. At 10 p.m., a 300-drone light show will take to the skies backed by a synchronized musical score broadcast live on KiSS 103.5.

Immediately following the drone performance, the City of Greater Sudbury will present a traditional fireworks display to close out the night.

Due to the size of the event, organizers are warning residents to plan their travel ahead of time.

Parking Information:


Free parking at Science North is highly limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Carpooling, walking or biking is strongly encouraged.
Overflow parking will be available at the corner of Paris and York streets.

Drone Show & Road Closures:


The drone show will launch from James Jerome Park, which will close to the public at 8 p.m. The Science North lawns remain the primary viewing area.
Road closures will be in effect for approximately one hour starting at 9:45 p.m.

Paris Street closed to southbound traffic at Boland Ave.
Paris Street closed to northbound traffic at Centennial Drive.
York Street closed to eastbound traffic at Regent St.
Westbound traffic leaving Science North via Ramsey Lake Road will be forced to turn left and head south on Paris Street.
