A motorcyclist is dead after a collision on Highway 17, police say.

The Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received calls about a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle just after 11:30 a.m. on June 28.

The OPP are investigating the collision in the United Townships of Head, Clara and Maria.   

The section of Highway 17 between Yates Road and McSourley Lake Road was closed for several hours. Police said the highway has since reopened.  

A 51-year-old man was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
