Golfers wishing to play Qualicum Beach, B.C.’s Eaglecrest Golf Course next season will feel like they’re playing the course for the first time.

Chemainus Valley Courier reports work to reconfigure the golf course is well underway, and the new-look facility is expected to open for play next spring.

Existing fairways are being reshaped, new greens are being created and the irrigation system is being upgraded among the changes. The municipality’s mayor says the reconfiguration work is expected to improve safety, playability, and long-term operational sustainability.

The course will play as a nine-hole, par 35 track that will allow golfers to maintain official handicaps.
