Former Penticton Vee signs 2-year extension with Toronto Maple Leafs

Troy Stecher is staying in Toronto.
The former Penticton Vees defenceman re-upped with the NHL club on a two-year contract extension.
Stecher’s deal with Toronto carries an annual average value of US$1.35 million.
The 32-year-old native of Richmond, B.C., suited up in 58 games with the Maple Leafs in 2025-2026, posting three goals and 14 points.
He played parts of three seasons with the BCHL Vees, including the 2011-12 campaign, helping the club win a record 42 consecutive games on their way to the Fred Page Cup title.
Stecher has also played for the Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, and Edmonton Oilers during his NHL career, which started in the fall of 2016.
The blueliner signed with the Leafs in November 2025.
