Montreal police announced Tuesday evening that a public commemorative ceremony for Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, the police officer who was shot dead by a man in Côte-des-Neiges on June 22, will be held at the Bell Centre.
The time of the event and other details will be published at a later date, it said.
Benredouane, 34, was killed shortly after police responded to a report of a gunman near Trans Island and de Courtrai Aves. The suspected shooter was also killed, as was a bystander, and another police officer was also shot in the incident.
Benredouane leaves behind his partner, who is pregnant with their second child, and their three-year-old son.
A private funeral was held for Benredouane on June 24, but the outpouring of support prompted police to announce a more public event would also be held.
