Major League Baseball is returning to its Little League roots again.
The 2025 MLB Little League Baseball Classic is back with the New York Mets facing the Seattle Mariners in conjunction with the Little League World Series. The two MLB teams will face another on Sunday, Aug. 17 at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field as part of a partnership with Little League Baseball that began in 2017.
The special game will feature players and families from participating Little League World Series teams in the crowd, and MLB players from the Mets and Mariners will be on hand for some of the Little League World Series action earlier in the day. The Mets, who are participating in the MLB Little League Baseball Classic for the second time, will serve as the home team.
Both the Mets and Mariners are in the thick of the National and American League wild-card races, respectively, with Seattle challenging the Houston Astros for the AL West crown. The Mets have been slumping of late, but still had possession of the final wild-card spot in the NL entering this weekend’s games.
The Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees in walk-off fashion at last year’s MLB Little League Classic.
