EU funding boost for Haven Hub’s mental health projects across Limerick

HAVEN HUB in Limerick has secured €124,763.50 in EU funding through Léargas to expand its mental health and wellbeing initiatives for young people in Limerick and surrounding areas.

This funding will support the organisation’s Social n’ Sober and Youth Group programmes, aimed at creating safe, inclusive spaces for individuals aged 15 to 30.

These initiatives focus on building confidence, fostering meaningful connections, and promoting positive mental health.

Leona O’Callaghan, General Manager and Founder of The Haven Hub, called the funding a “massive opportunity” to bolster youth mental health supports across the region.

“Some of our young people will have the chance to travel to European countries through the Discover EU Inclusion Project, to remind them that the world is a big and beautiful place, even during hard times,” she said. “We are extremely grateful to Léargas for supporting our projects, and I feel privileged to witness first hand the difference they make in each young person’s life.”

One recent initiative, the Haven Hub Ireland Exchange with Abruzzo Plus from Italy, saw participants explore cultural and scenic sites such as Dublin’s landmarks, the Cliffs of Moher, and Lahinch Beach. The exchange included music, sports, and workshops, promoting substance-free spaces and meaningful cultural connections.

With locations in Limerick, Ennis, and Waterford, The Haven Hub continues its mission of suicide prevention and mental health support through late-night volunteer services, youth-focused programmes, and community-driven initiatives that promote resilience and wellbeing.
