MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Louis Foster will add another chapter to his rapidly growing racing career next week when he makes his NASCAR national series debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lime Rock Park.

Freedom Racing Enterprises announced Wednesday that Foster, a full-time NTT IndyCar Series driver for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, will pilot the team’s No. 76 Chevrolet Silverado in the July 11 event at the Connecticut road course. DROPLiGHT, a shared partner of Foster and team owner-driver Spencer Boyd, will serve as the truck’s primary sponsor.

The race will mark the first NASCAR start for Foster, who currently competes in IndyCar driving the No. 45 DROPLiGHT/Desnuda entry for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. The British driver earned Rookie of the Year honors during his debut season in the series and now will test his skills in stock car competition.

“We’ve shown some great speed with our road course program this season,” Boyd said. “It was our goal this season to stay focused on the 76 this year while bringing road course talent to best showcase our abilities in building fast trucks. The schedules aligned so that we could execute this crossover with Louis at Lime Rock and we are proud to be the ones getting him his first drive in a NASCAR race truck.”

Foster, who hails from Odiham, Hampshire, England, has racing roots through his father, former British Touring Car Championship competitor Nick Foster. The opportunity to compete in NASCAR was one the young driver said was difficult to turn down.

“This is quite the exciting opportunity and a bit of a bucket list item for me personally,” Foster said. “I like to run different circuits in iRacing and NASCAR vehicles are at the top of my list of fun things to drive. So when Spencer and DROPLiGHT reached out with this opportunity, it was a pretty easy ‘yes’ for me.”

The pairing reunites Foster and Boyd under the DROPLiGHT banner. The company, which also backs Boyd’s efforts, will use the event to unveil a livery featured in the NASCAR 26 console video game.

Road-course experience is expected to be one of Foster’s strengths as he transitions into NASCAR machinery. Lime Rock Park’s layout could provide an ideal setting for the crossover, particularly with Freedom Racing Enterprises emphasizing the progress it has made with its road-course program this season.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Lime Rock Park is scheduled for July 11 and will air live on FS1 beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
