Two-time Olympic medalist and Reed High product Gabby Williams has been named a WNBA All-Star for a second consecutive season. She’ll be a starter for the first time.

Williams was among the 10 starters announced Thursday by the WNBA. She is the first player in Golden State Valkyries’ franchise history to be an All-Star starter and the second player to represent the franchise at the All-Star game. Williams joined Golden State this offseason after signing a three-year deal reportedly worth $3.7 million and having the best statistical season of her career.

Through 20 games this season, the 29-year-old is the Valkyries’ leading scorer, averaging a career-high 15.8 points per game. Williams has eclipsed 20 points a career-high five times and set a career high with 27 points against the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces last month. She’s shooting 41.6 percent from the floor, including a career-best 35.2 percent from beyond the arc. She’s added 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert delivered the news to Williams on Wednesday, but her teammates found out from head coach Natalie Nakase after practice on Thursday and burst into celebration.

“I didn’t come to the Valkyries to be an All-Star,” Williams told The Athletic. “Those things are just the product of everything that we do every day. I have the best teammates. I have a staff that pours into me. I come to work with a smile on my face every day. My teammates make me look great on the court. I don’t take this as, ‘Oh, yeah, I’m just playing great.’ I take it as everything we’re doing, we’re going in the right direction as a team.”

Golden State is 13-7 and ranks third out of 15 teams in the WNBA.

Williams made her first All-Star appearance as a reserve with Seattle last season and earned WNBA All-Defensive first-team honors in 2025. Last season, she notched career highs in points (11.6), assists (4.2), steals (2.3) and free throw percentage (85.3). Williams’ 99 steals last season were one shy of tying Teresa Weatherspoon’s WNBA record of 100 set in 1998.

Williams has a decorated international résumé, winning Olympic medals with Team France in 2024 (silver) and 2021 (bronze). In 2024, she won the Alain Gilles Trophy, awarded to the best male or female French basketball player. Williams has won two Turkish Presidential Cup championships, two EuroLeague championships and a FIBA Europe SuperCup Women championship. She has earned three EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year awards, SuperCup MVP and EuroLeague Final Four MVP.

The 2026 WNBA All-Star game is at the United Center in Chicago on July 25.
