Editor,

Re: Peace Arch article titled ‘Surrey candidate slams Elections B.C. probe’

While I can understand the frustration of Surrey Conservative candidate Honveer Singh Randhawa’s very close loss to Garry Begg, a B.C. Supreme Court judge oversaw a judicial review of the election in the riding and found the vote count supported Begg, the current MLA.

I presume the Supreme Court judge reviewed the evidence und the laws of the BC Election Act.

Should Mr. Randhawa further the process of litigation? I would hope not.

Should Mr. Randhawa become the successful mayoralty candidate in the next municipal election, I would hope that he not follow the long history of litigation that has been the unfortunate, continuous practice of the last few mayors and council. The costs of this inappropriate litigation has not only cost taxpayers, but Surrey councils also have been on the wrong side of legal judgments.
