The racing continued at the Volta a Portugal Feminina and the Canadian contingent continued to shine. On Friday, it was an ITT just over 10 km.
Going into the third stage, Kiara Lylyk (Mayenne Monbana My Pie) wore the white jersey, sitting second overall in the best young rider’s competition. Since Emma Siegers (AG Insurance Soudal Devo Team) was also leading, the Guelph, Ont. rider wore the leader’s jersey. It’s actually the second time this year that Lylyk has done so.
The Volta a Portugal Feminina Stage 3 TT
Marion Borras gave Cofidis its second straight stage victory at the Volta a Portugal Feminina on Friday, winning the 10.8-km individual time trial in Coimbra. The 28-year-old French rider stopped the clock in 13:28 on a super-hot day, finishing three seconds ahead of teammate Victoire Berteau.
Belgium’s Annelies Nijssen (Lotto Intermarché) rounded out the podium, seven seconds behind the winner.

Siegers (AG Insurance Soudal Devo Team) successfully defended the race lead and will wear the yellow jersey into Saturday’s super-tough, 109-km Stage 4 from Mealhada to Águeda, which features three categorized climbs.
Vancouver’s Sidney Swierenga (Liv AlUla Jayco Women’s Continental Team) had a great TT, finishing fifth, just 17 seconds behind. The 19-year-old now sits fifth overall, moving up six spots. Lylyk finished 43rd and would slip in the standings; she now sits 17th overall with two stages to go. Still, a fine showing these past few days for the talented rider.
The third Canuck, Swierenga’s teammate, Annabelle Thomas from Calgary, finished 29th in the chrono.
