The Ottawa REDBLACKS came up just short of their second incredible comeback in only five days, Thursday night in Winnipeg.

Down by 14 points in the final minutes, and with Dru Brown sidelined due to a third-quarter lower body injury, a touchdown pass by Dustin Crum to Justin Hardy, and 117-yard missed field goal return touchdown by Kalil Pimpleton tied it at 27-27, but a Sergio Castillo field goal at the buzzer walked it off for the home team.

Down 20-3 to begin the second half, Brown engineered a drive deep into Bomber territory, but was injured on an incredible scramble pass to William Stanback. Dustin Crum scampered into the end zone on the next play to make it a 10-point game.

Winnipeg opened the fourth quarter with a four-yard touchdown run by Brady Oliveria. Lewis Ward tacked on a field foal with 10:24 to play, and with 2:40 to go, Crum capped off a long drive by finding Hardy in the end zone.

The home side appeared to be in good shape from there, but a 57-yard attempt by Castillo to put a bow on the game was fielded by Pimpleton, who broke free for another magical run to tie the game with just 53 seconds to play.

Zach Collaros’ threw an interception to REDBLACKS rookie King Ambers on the ensuing possession, but Ottawa was forced to punt, and the Bombers needed only two plays for the 47-yard game winner.

Ottawa will look to get back in the win column next Friday, hosting the Edmonton Elks in a 7:30pm kickoff.
