Four suspects — one of them a 13 year old boy — were in Montreal police custody Monday morning after a brazen attempt hours earlier to break into a jewelry store using an SUV as a battering ram.
Police spokesperson Manual Couture said multiple 911 calls were received at about 1:45 a.m. reporting that thieves were trying to break into a jewelry store on Fleury St. near Curotte St. in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district.
Officers arriving at the scene found the the SUV had been abandoned after the thieves were unsuccessful in their attempts to steal any of the store’s inventory. The suspects fled in a second vehicle but were soon intercepted by police and taken in for questioning.
The three other suspects are aged 18, 17 and 16. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
The investigation was continuing early Monday morning.
