Quebec’s independent investigations bureau (BEI) will set up a command post Monday morning at the site of a June 22 shoot-out that left a Montreal police officer, a civilian bystander and the suspect dead.

In a communique, the BEI said it wanted to find eyewitnesses to the incident, particularly those who may have recorded the shootings on their phones or other devices.
Montreal police have announced that a public commemorative ceremony for Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, the officer who was killed in the shoot-out, will be held July 7 at the Bell Centre.
Benredouane, 34, was killed shortly after police responded to a report of a gunman near Trans Island and de Courtrai Aves. The suspected shooter was also killed, as was a bystander, and another police officer and civilian were also shot in the incident.
The dead civilian was identified as Michel Mizrahi, a local member of the Chabad Jewish community.
BEI investigators will staff the command post located at De Courtrai Ave. and Décarie Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
