Artemis II – The Screening: A Historic Lunar Mission to be screened at the Montreal Science Centre this summer
The Montreal Science Centre invites the public to a special screening dedicated to Artemis II, the historic mission that marked the return of crewed flights to the Moon and enabled Canadian Jeremy Hansen to become the first non-American astronaut to take part in a lunar mission. Artemis II — The Screening will allow viewers to relive the highlights of this space adventure in a contemplative setting, accompanied by spectacular images from NASA.
Presented at the Montreal Science Centre, this 12-minute screening will give the public the opportunity to discover the key milestones of the Artemis II mission—the first crewed mission of the Artemis program in more than five decades—from liftoff to splashdown. As they are transported thousands of kilometres from Earth, visitors will be able to relive the mission’s highlights through the eyes of the four astronauts: Reid Wiseman (commander, NASA), Victor Glover (pilot, NASA), Christina Koch (mission specialist, NASA), and Jeremy Hansen (mission specialist, Canadian Space Agency).
This program is part of the Montreal Science Centre’s commitment to introducing a broad audience to the major scientific achievements of space exploration. It also complements the experience offered by Signs of Life, the new permanent exhibition that recently opened, which explores the conditions necessary for life to emerge, the possibilities of discovering life elsewhere in the universe, and the latest advances in astrobiology research.
“This screening helps sustain the fascination with space exploration by offering a unique glimpse into a mission that marks a turning point in the history of the conquest of the Moon. Combined with the ‘Signs of Life’ exhibition, it offers a rich experience that invites us to reflect both on our place in the universe and on the future of space exploration,” said Cybèle Robichaud, director of the Montreal Science Center.
Screenings are offered in both English and French.
