The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) is asking the public for information after a medical response bag was stolen from an emergency scene on Monday.
Officials say the bag contained medications that could cause serious harm if used without medical supervision. While none of the medications are narcotics, WFPS says taking any amount of the drugs without proper medical oversight could be dangerous or even fatal.
Most of the medications are intended to provide symptom relief or are used during patient resuscitation efforts. Many are packaged in vials and are designed to be administered intravenously, not taken by mouth.
The theft has been reported to the Winnipeg Police Service, and the WFPS is also conducting its own investigation.
