OCALA, Fla. (CBS12) — An Ocala boxing coach is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a teenage student for months, with investigators warning there may be more victims.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says 64-year-old Juan Carlos Quintero-Barrios was arrested Monday on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation and eight counts of lewd or lascivious battery involving a victim between 12 and 16 years old.
Deputies began investigating in June after the juvenile reported a series of alleged sexual assaults that started in September 2025.
Investigators say the victim identified Quintero-Barrios, her former boxing coach at Doghouse Boxing Gym, as the person who abused her at multiple locations across Marion County, including two boxing gyms, his home, a hotel room and his vehicle.

Detectives say the victim provided detailed accounts of the alleged abuse and told investigators Quintero-Barrios repeatedly threatened that bad things would happen if she told anyone.
According to the sheriff’s office, Detective Zachary Elliott interviewed Quintero-Barrios on July 6. During the interview, investigators say he acknowledged he was the girl’s coach and described her as a “troublemaker.”
Detectives say Quintero-Barrios was confronted with the allegations and hotel receipts connected to the investigation. Officials say he admitted to bringing a woman into a hotel room to cheat on his wife, but refused to identify her.
Quintero-Barrios was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
Investigators say, based on the allegations and his role as a boxing coach who worked with children, they believe there could be additional victims.
