Police investigating shots fired in Cloverdale

Shots were fired at a home in Cloverdale early in the morning July 7.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says the shooting may be extortion-related.
In a press release sent out by SPS media relations officer Staff Sergeant Lindsey Houghton, police say the shooting occurred at a residence near 165th Street and 58th Avenue.
”SPS was called by a homeowner of a residence in the 16500-block 58th Avenue that they had found what they believed to be gunshot damage to their residence,” Houghton noted in the release. “SPS Frontline officers responded and confirmed damage to the exterior of the residence was caused by gunfire at 2:51 am on July 7, 2026. The residence was occupied at the time and thankfully, no one was injured.”
Houghton revealed the SPS’s Extortion Response Team is now in charge of the investigation as SPS believes the shooting “to be extortion-related.”
He added police are seeking anyone who was in the neighbourhood at the time and may have information, dashcam footage, or any camera footage from their house that could provide a lead.
