Jane Mortifee returns to Surrey stage for July shows

Beloved Canadian singer, songwriter and actor Jane Mortifee is making her highly anticipated return to the Peninsula Studio Theatre stage, following up on last year’s completely sold-out shows.
Two intimate performances, Sunday, July 12 (at 2 and 7 p.m.), are scheduled for Peninsula’s theatre in Centennial Park (14600 North Bluff Rd.).
Mortifee will be joined by the powerhouse musical duo Bill Sample and Darlene Cooper (of the Wild Blue Herons) for the shows, promising “a masterclass in soul, jazz, R&B, and timeless storytelling.”
Over a career spanning more than 45 years, Mortifee has more than proven her credentials as a versatile force on the Canadian entertainment scene.
A 2002 BC Entertainment Hall of Fame inductee, Mortifee has shared stages with such iconic performers as David Foster, Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Paul Anka and John Denver.
Her multi-talented creativity is manifest in three Jesse Award nominations, countless tracks as a session singer and her own published work of fiction, Out Of The Fire.
Pianist arranger Sample’s credits include nine years as musical director for David Foster; collaborating with the likes of Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and Peter Cetera, and even playing on the Grammy-winning soundtrack for Pixar’s Ratatouille.
Cooper is a stunning jazz, soul, and gospel vocalist who has performed with Leon Bibb, Shari Ulrich, and Ann Mortifee. Noted for her captivating stage presence, she is a respected educator and former choral director for the Marcus Moseley Chorale.
