For a second time in the first four weeks of the Canadian Football League (CFL) season, Alouettes’ wide receiver Tyson Philpot and quarterback Davis Alexander have been named among the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Top Performers for Week 4. Philpot was tapped as the number one player and Alexander was selected the second best for the week,
In week 2 of the CFL campaign, Philpot was second and Alexander was third thanks to their performances in Montreal’s 37-30 win over the Toronto Argonauts.
In The Alouettes’ 37-35 squeaker of a win over the Ottawa Redblacks Philpot had a dozen receptions for 198 yards, including a 37-yard catch. This was Philpot’s third consecutive 100-yard receiving game this season (193, 120, 198). The exclamation point of his performance was a 74-yard run after the catch. The Calgary Dinos alumnus leads the CFL with 36 receptions and 587 receiving yards.
Alexander connected on 22 of his 30 pass attempts for an impressive 73.3 completion percentage) for 345 yards and two touchdowns. He hit for four completions of over 30 yards. The highlight toss was a 53-yard bomb to Alexander Hollins for a touchdown.
Alexander currently leads the CFL in passing yards logging 1,478 in the first four games. The former Portland State Vikings pivot ranks among the league leaders in touchdown passes with seven.
Montreal is coming off their bye week and will host the Calgary Stampeders Saturday with a 7 p.m. kickoff. n
