Toronto police are investigating an early morning fire at a Midtown restaurant on Wednesday as suspected arson.
Officers responded to calls for an explosion and fire at a restaurant near Eglinton Avenue W. and Bathurst Street around 2: 43 a.m. Wednesday, said Toronto police on social media.
The incident was escalated to a 1-alarm fire after crews reported heavy smoke going into and coming out of the building, said Toronto Fire.
It said the blaze has been extinguished, but that crews remain at the scene for a fire watch.
Police said two adjacent buildings also sustained some damage from the incident. They said no injuries have been reported at this time.
While four people were assessed at the scene, Toronto paramedics said no one needed transportation to hospital.
