Rail service is gradually resuming along a section of track in Repentigny after a derailment on Sunday afternoon, the municipality announced on Wednesday.
In a post on its Facebook page, the city of Repentigny said it had been informed by CN that service had been re-established overnight Tuesday after the section of railway was “rigorously inspected.”
The city said trains will run at reduced speeds for the time being and the track will be inspected after each passage.
There were no injuries reported in the incident and none of the railway cars were found to be carrying hazardous materials.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation.
