The creator of gay hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov is coming to a local church.
Before Heated Rivalry (the show) was Canada’s most-popular entry into pop culture since Schitt’s Creek, it was a book.
It was Rachel Reid’s second entry in the Game Changers series (which tells a variety of gay romance hockey stories) in 2018, with Heated Rivalry published in 2019.
The Nova Scotian author teamed up with Letterkenny’s Jacob Tierney for the 2025 TV series, which became a global phenomenon and made a star of Vancouver’s Hudson Williams.
Now a star in her own right, Reid is going on tour to talk about her books, and Vancouver will be a part of it.
The Vancouver Writers Fest have scored a night with the author on Oct. 5, 2026.
The night will include a 45-minute conversation (the moderator hasn’t been announced yet) with Reid, followed by an extended question-and-answer period.
Along with the live event, attendees will get a special moment.
“Each ticket includes a copy of the new Heated Rivalry deluxe hardcover edition, complete with a signed custom bookplate,” reads the event page.
The new edition includes a fancier cover and never-before-seen character art inside.
Tickets for the Vancouver event go on sale July 10. The event is Reid’s only tour stop in Western Canada. Other dates include Sept. 28 in Montreal, Oct. 3 in L.A. and Oct. 13 in Toronto.
