‘Summer of Laughs’ coming to Yuk Yuk’s Surrey

The “Summer of Laughs” is coming to Yuk Yuk’s Surrey.

The two-month celebration of stand-up comedy will feature nationally acclaimed headliners, exclusive showcase events, and the debut of the Rising Comics Championship.

Comic Patrick Maliha kicks off Yuk Yuk’s Summer of Laughs with shows at the club July 10 and 11.

“July also features Canadian favourites Mike Greenwood, Steve Taddy and the White Samosa comedy event starring Harmeet Singh Kohli,” Eric Y. Lapointe—CEO of Icarus Capital, the organization that owns Yuk Yuk’s Surrey—said in a press release for the Summer of Laughs.

“Following its annual B.C. Day long weekend break, the laughs resume with one of the summer’s most anticipated events as Los Angeles comedian Kiki Yeung headlines a special one-night-only performance on August 7,” he added. “(She’ll) be joined by Seattle-based TikTok sensation Ellen Acuario.”

Lapointe noted the August lineup will be filled out by Chris Griffin, the return of Hat Trick Comedy (featuring Jon Endo, Cass Furman and Travis Watters, Roman Danylo), the hit all-female Bad Moms showcase, and concludes August 28 and 29 with Los Angeles headliner Sharon Mahoney.

“Adding even more comedy to the schedule is the inaugural Rising Comics Championship, the newly reimagined competition formerly known as the B.C. Yuk Off,” Lapointe revealed. “Beginning July 16, the championship brings live comedy to Yuk Yuk’s Surrey every Thursday throughout the summer as more than 60 emerging comedians from British Columbia and Washington State compete across six preliminary rounds.”

He said the Rising Comics Championship with end with two semi-finals and a championship final in September. In those rounds comics will battle for cash prizes, the Garry Yuill Memorial Award, and future performance opportunities with Yuk Yuk’s B.C.

“Our goal was simple: make Yuk Yuk’s Surrey the place to laugh all summer long,” said Arjun Rudra, manager of Yuk Yuk’s Surrey. “We’ve created a lineup that offers something different nearly every week. Whether you’re a regular or visiting us for the first time, it’s going to be an unforgettable summer.”
