NASCAR Best Bets for the Quaker State 400

Race Winner — John H. Nemechek (+9000)

Everyone knows the drill. Atlanta was reconfigured into a superspeedway. This is pack-racing, drafting, or a plate track, depending on your age. Regardless of the nomenclature, the racing is the same. Drivers rip around the steeply banked turns at top speed, separated by inches. It doesn’t take a race enthusiast to figure out how this turns out.

The massive wrecks knock out most of the field. The racing style levels the playing field. Typical leaders cannot stand out from the pack. The underdog is in it until the very end. The last-lap sweat of a legit dog that pays large dividends is real. This isn’t a fantasy. It’s not a wasted ticket. Betting Nemechek is better than buying a scratcher at the convenience store.

Why Nemechek? Everyone knows why. He’s the first pick at the bottom of the board that has a chance. It’s a dumb strategy, but this is dumb racing. Just a couple of swigs of the Kool-Aid are all that’s needed to click on JHN. Here’s that shot: Nemechek finished 10th at Atlanta in 2025.

That’s about where the stats end. He doesn’t wreck at superspeedways, but he never wins and rarely comes away with a top 10. What should you expect? He’s on the bottom of the board for a reason. JHN may not be the pick, but he’s the paradigm.

Race Winner — Austin Hill (+4500)

Motivation matters. Everyone wants to win, but some want it more than others. For those few, it’s then a question of “what are you willing to do?” There’s nothing worse than a longshot bet to win that settles for a top 10. Aggressive is not enough. Longshot picks to win need to be willing to wreck the entire field. Desperate drivers.

Hill isn’t desperate. Is he set to take over the second seat at RCR? Is he? Why hasn’t it been announced? No one doubts Hill’s stats support his case for the seat. Sponsorship support is another story. Austin Hill’s career has been tarnished by Austin Hill. His various feuds have turned off fans and gained him few followers. Hill isn’t a hot commodity. Richard Childress isn’t obligated to promote him. Hill needs to force his hand. A win in Hill’s home state will do that. And Hill can do that. He is one of the best lower-series superspeedway drivers ever.

Race Winner — Riley Herbst (+7500)

Scratch out his name. Write top-tier Toyota. This is a great payout for a Toyota. The third car from the 23XI Racing stable is top-tier. The No. 35 car finished 10th at Chicago and eighth at San Diego. Herbst finished eighth in the 2026 Daytona 500 (his second top-10 finish in five Daytona starts).

Race Winner — Noah Gragson (+9000)

There is a theme this week. Pick longshots on their last shot at Atlanta. Gragson’s career has stalled and is now in free fall. Wins came easy in the Truck and O’Reilly Series. That happens when driving for Kyle Busch Motorsports and JR Motorsports. Gragson graduated to SHR in the Cup Series. That’s when the wins ended. Gragson is now with Front Row Motorsports, battling for top-25 finishes. He needs a win in the worst way. Front Row has a strong superspeedway program. Gragson is running hot in the pack races — 11th (Daytona), 14th (Atlanta), and 9th (Talladega).
