SkyTrain construction means more road closures in Langley

LANGLEY ADVANCE TIMES – Several more upcoming traffic changes in the Langley area are expected around the ongoing Surrey-Langley SkyTrain construction project.
Conditions on Fraser Highway west of the Langley Bypass, and along Industrial Avenue, continue to be constrained by ongoing lane closures.
The new upcoming changes are:
• From approximately Tuesday, July 14, to Friday, July 17 driving access will be heavily limited around 64 Avenue at Fraser Highway. There will be no access to or from 64 Avenue from Fraser Highway during construction hours. There will be no access from 192 Street onto 64 Avenue or Fraser Highway during construction, and access to 192 Street from 64 westbound will be reserved for local traffic only. Pedestrian access has been re-routed, and cyclists will have to share the road.
• A one-hour closure of 200 Street and Industrial Avenue is expected between approximately 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15.
• Turn restrictions on 201A Street, just south of Industrial Avenue, are expected to start on Wednesday, July 15, and run until Monday, Aug. 3.
The $6-billion extension of the SkyTrain line to downtown Langley from the current terminus at King George Station will add eight new stations and 16 kilometres of track.
Construction work includes work on building both the Willowbrook and Langley City Centre stations, utility work along Fraser Highway, and pile driving along the alley east of the Langley Bypass. Pile driving prepares sites for the columns that will hold up the guideway.
The line is scheduled to be open in late 2029.
