No injuries have been reported following the incident.
Several Vancouver flights are delayed, and at least one is cancelled from Montreal after a plane went off the runway.
Passengers arriving in Montreal from Los Angeles have deplaned after an Air Canada aircraft veered off the runway onto the grass Thursday evening (July 9).
Air Canada flight AC774 landed normally at Montréal International Airport (YUL). But the “aircraft sustained a taxiway excursion and stopped in the grass,” the airline says in an emailed statement.
No injuries have been reported, and all 156 passengers and six crew members were deplaned and transported to the terminal, Air Canada says.
The airline plans to tow the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to the Monréal Air Canada hangar, where staff will conduct a full inspection.
“Air Canada is undertaking a detailed investigation into this incident, and will work with relevant authorities to determine the cause,” the airline adds.

Vancouver flights cancelled, delayed after Air Canada Montreal incident
NAV Canada says the incident, along with turbulent weather, has caused delays for flights to and from YUL on Thursday evening.
“Our team is moving aircraft safely, and as quickly as possible. Passengers: check the status of your flight with your airline,” it says in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Several flights from Montreal to Vancouver are delayed following the incident, including flights originally scheduled to arrive at 7 p.m., 7:50 p.m., and 8:59 p.m., according to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) arrivals page. An 8:16 p.m. arrival is also cancelled.
So far, the departures page doesn’t indicate any delays or cancellations (but that could change).
Travellers hoping to recoup their losses for delayed or cancelled flights aren’t out of luck. Air Canada has revised its ticketing policy so you can make changes to your booking without penalty, space permitting, for flights departing on Thursday.
People with affected flights can retrieve their Air Canada booking online to make a change.
Travellers departing from YVR should also check their flight status before heading to the airport with their airline and with YVR.
