MADRING today reached another important milestone in its preparation for the FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2026, successfully hosting its first Formula 1 running. A filming day organised by Scuderia Ferrari HP provided a valuable opportunity to validate the circuit’s operational procedures and infrastructure under real operating conditions ahead of its FIA Formula One World Championship debut.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc completed the FIA-regulated promotional event using the Ferrari SF-26. Under the regulations, teams are permitted to cover up to 200 kilometres in total (100 km per driver) using dedicated Pirelli demonstration tyres. The session marked the first time a Formula 1 car had run on the Madrid circuit ahead of the inaugural Grand Prix over the weekend of 11–13 September.
A Key Milestone in Event Readiness
The day provided MADRING with the opportunity to test the logistics and coordination required for a Formula 1 event, with Ferrari operating under conditions closely resembling those of a Grand Prix weekend. The Scuderia deployed personnel and equipment representative of a race weekend operation, enabling organisers to validate key operational procedures across the circuit. More important than the symbolic first Formula 1 laps, the session marked one of the final operational milestones ahead of September’s inaugural FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA, demonstrating the readiness of the circuit, its infrastructure and its operational teams as preparations enter their final phase.
