On July 23, Science World is hosting a special night for adults looking to enjoy the unique attraction with adult bevies. The 19-plus summer party, After Dark: Sparks and Rec – Outdoor Edition, will run from 6 to 10 p.m. with fun extras.
You can check out the outdoor and indoor offerings at the popular attraction, as well as catch a “live science show, be carried away by the sweet stylings of local musicians, and settle into a sun-kissed night of summer science,” according to a press release.
(Side note: I grew up in Vancouver, and the memory is murky, but I recall sleeping at the domed centre once — not just anywhere — but in the beautiful beaver’s den. That was pretty neat. I’m thinking it was with Brownies. The branch is the seven-to eight-year-old girls division of the Girl Guides of Canada, now called Embers. The more you know….)
Guests for the adult night can enjoy the regular features in the domed attraction (like the Beaver’s Den, but not sleeping there), as well as the limited-time FIFA exhibition, Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum, presented by the provincial government.
“Throughout the exhibition, guests will learn how innovation has shaped the game’s evolution, discovering the role of technology in soccer through five distinct zones: broadcasting & media, staging the game, intelligent data, refereeing & fair play, and the innovation lab,” according to Science World.
The centre is also keeping its stunning FIFA makeover on the outside, aptly called The Beautiful Dome (for The Beautiful Game) until Sept 7. To create the eye-catching installation, each of the 131 panels was custom-created to re-create the official ball of the 2026 tournament.
Things to do in Vancouver: Twilight Tuesday returns to Science World
Locals can also enjoy the science centre on Tuesdays through the summer for longer as part of the popular Twilight Tuesdays series.
Science World stays open until 8 p.m. on these nights, with special pricing after 5 p.m. Adults, seniors and youth pay just $18.95, while children ages three to 12 cost $14.95 for admission, and kids under three are free.
You can check out all of the centre’s regular exhibits, the limited soccer exhibition, catch a Centre Stage Show, and explore the Creative Technology Gallery “to discover B.C.’s contributions to movies, animation, and video games through engaging, interactive displays.”
White Spot favourites continue at the centre (and have been since I was also Guide-aged). The original burger on Triple “O” Tuesday is just $7.99.
On Aug. 25, Twilight Tuesdays will host a special 2SLGBTQIA+ Showcase to amplify diverse voices in the STEAM community.
