RAM has made its return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season, but can one call it triumphant?
That probably depends who you ask. Regardless of results, Kaulig Racing and RAM putting five full-time efforts on the track this season is impressive, and results are slowly but surely coming.
Defending ARCA Menards Series champion Brenden Queen is in 14th in the standings and only 11 points out of the Chase going into Saturday’s race at Lime Rock Park, while Justin Haley is in 15th and only 22 points out of a postseason slot.
“I would say it’s probably as expected,” Haley said of the team’s performance Friday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “At the end of the day, when you put your heart and soul into it, you want better results. but [that’s] not super realistic right now. I feel like we have the potential and opportunity, obviously with my experience and the team’s experience throughout a race to kind of wedge ourselves up toward the front and try to stay there.”
RAM searching for pace
While there hasn’t been much speed from the RAM camp this season, having two drivers in position to make a run at the Chase is impressive. The team’s other full-time driver, Mini Tyrrell, sits 18th in points, with Corey LaJoie in 22nd. LaJoie has driven the No. 10 RAM since the suspension of Daniel Dye.
The team’s No. 25 “All-Star” truck is 25th in the series owner standings, with Colin Braun behind the wheel at Lime Rock on Saturday.
