The Ottawa Redblacks figure to be missing their starting quarterback for another week.

Head coach Bob Dyce told reporters Monday that Dru Brown likely will be out for Friday’s home game against the Edmonton Elks.

Brown exited in the third quarter of last week’s loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with an apparent lower-body injury after he was hit by James Vaughters.

Dustin Crum finished the game at QB for the Redblacks, nearly orchestrating a fourth-quarter comeback before the Blue Bombers won it on a walk-off field goal.

Crum would be the expected starter if Dyce can’t go Friday.

Dyce did say he does not expect Brown’s injury to be a long-term absence.

Brown missed three games earlier this season with a hip injury and exited another game in the first quarter with an apparent head injury.

The Redblacks (3-7) are third in the CFL East, but sit four points back of the B.C. Lions (5-5) for the league’s final playoff spot by virtue of the cross-over rule.

Brown has thrown for 1,842 yards with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions in seven games this year.
