German pop princess Kim Petras has been spotted out on the town in New York in a very revealing white lace minidress.
The Unholy hitmaker, 33, turned heads in the racy outfit as she headed into New York’s famed Bowery Hotel.
Three albums into her career, Petras is known for her racy antics and occasionally X-rated song lyrics – so much so that an AUSLAN interpreter working her set at Sydney World Pride back in 2023 went viral for supplying some truly graphic interpretations of songs she was performing from her Slut Pop EP.
The same year, Petras told news.com.au that controversial pop songs had always been among her favourites.
“I remember when [Moulin Rouge hit] Lady Marmalade came out, I was like, ‘That’s it, I want to be a callgirl,’” the 30-year-old said.
“Those are the coolest songs, man! I never felt cooler than listening to songs that my parents didn’t want me to listen to, or my teachers in school didn’t want me to listen to.”
Petras’ public profile began in her early teens in her native Germany, when she appeared on television discussing having gone through gender transition at an early age. She moved to LA when she was 19 and began her pop career in earnest – a career that’s spanned more than a decade and, in 2023, earned her a Grammy Award for her smash hit Sam Smith collaboration, Unholy.
Despite that success, Petras said she suffered multiple setbacks in getting her most recent album, this year’s Detours, out into the world.
“It’s been a year of negotiations and struggling and not getting a clear answer and believing in this music so much and not wanting to change it,” she recently told Vogue, saying she was worried the album would end up in record company limbo and never see the light of day.
“There was a year of me not being really excited about getting up in the morning, and not being able to tell my friends who are so proud of this when it’s going to come out. Everything was so uncertain,” she said.
