Road closure planned for 64th Avenue near Surrey-Langley border

A road closure is coming to 64th Avenue near the Surrey-Langley border.
The roadway, north of the Fraser Highway, will be shut down to facilitate construction along the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain route from July 14 to 17.
“Surrey-Langley SkyTrain construction is underway,” explains a press release from the B.C. Government’s Transportation Investment Corporation (TIC). “To support the installation of the elevated guideway, the following temporary traffic pattern change will be in effect.”
The TIC notes traffic pattern changes will occur from 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. for all four days.
These include: no access to or from 64th Avenue north of Fraser Highway during construction hours; turn restrictions to or from Fraser Highway will be in effect 24 hours a day during construction period; no access from 192nd Street to 64th Avenue and Fraser Highway; access to 192nd Street from 64th Avenue westbound will be for local traffic only; alternate routes available via 188th Street, 194th Street, 68th Avenue, and 196th Street.
“Pedestrians to use the crosswalk on the south side of Fraser Highway to cross 64th Avenue,” the TIC release continued. “This will be in effect until October 2026. Cyclists to share the road.”
TIC adds business access will be maintained at all times and access on 64th Avenue will be available after 10 p.m.
”The travelling public can expect delays in the area.”
