The Edmonton Elks have signed American defensive lineman Carmine Bastone, the team announced on Monday. He’s been added to the practice roster.
The six-foot-two, 300-pound defender played five collegiate seasons at Northwestern University, where he made 68 total tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks, and two forced fumbles over 39 games.
The native of St. Charles, Ill. attended rookie minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft but didn’t sign a contract with either team.

The Edmonton Elks (4-1) will host the B.C. Lions (1-3) at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday, July 17 with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Lions are coming off a bye week, while the Elks dominated the Ottawa Redblacks in a 40-17 win at home.
