10th annual ‘Hot Rod Saturday’ held at Elements Casino in Cloverdale

The 10th annual Hot Rod Saturday car show was held in the Elements Casino parking lot July 11.
Hosted by the B.C. Hot Rod Association (BCHRA), the annual event attracts hundreds of vintage vehicle owners and their rides and thousands of spectators.
Joe Morris, BCHRA executive board member, said with nearly 500 cars, the event rivaled their 2025 show, which was their biggest to date. He said despite some overcast skies early in the day, the car show was off to a “very good” start.
“The weather’s great. Gorgeous. Warm. Not too hot. This will probably bring out even more people over the course of the day.”
Morris said BCHRA expected about 5,000 visitors to the show.
The car show featured both a 50/50 draw and a unique raffle draw for a 1976 Sterling.
“One of our members built that car,” said Morris. “He built it quite a while ago and he donated it to the club to raise money for charity. All the money we raise will go to the Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association.”
According to their website, the Valley Therapeutic Equestrian Association (VTEA) “provides medically-approved therapeutic horseback riding and hippotherapy treatments to children and adults of varying abilities.” VTEA has been around since 1983. Their mission is to “enhance the quality of life of our riders by improving their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.”
Hot Rod Saturday was the first time the BCHRA displayed the Sterling—with an estimated appraised value of $19,000—in public. The car was built and donated by Bob McLaughlin.
Morris said it’s $10 a ticket for the raffle or three tickets for $25. The raffle is a nearly year-long event and the draw will be held Nov. 3. He added the hot rod show keeps getting bigger and better every year. In 2022, the event only had 300 cars. The show has been held at Elements Casino for about 5 or 6 years now. In 2017, the event was held on 176th Street in downtown Cloverdale.
Morris said he loves Hot Rod Saturday because there are always “so many nice people” and the day turns out to be a big reunion of sorts.
“You run into people you haven’t seen in a year or more, sometimes five years, sometimes 10 years,” he said. “It’s like a huge family reunion. It’s beautiful.”
The Hot Rod show ran from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vehicle types on display included: classic cars, collectibles, vintage hot rod cars and trucks, dragsters, military vehicles, and motorcycles.
