EDMONTON — Edmonton police are checking to make sure everyone is accounted for after a vehicle slammed into an apartment complex, igniting a fireball and leaving one person dead.
The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Monday.
A vehicle left the road and hit the north end building, which has retail shops at ground level and apartments above.
The crash ruptured a gas line, causing the explosion and fire.
Multiple people were sent to hospital, including the driver.
Police closed off the nearby street and are working to determine why the vehicle hit the building.
