The community will once again come together to celebrate the legacy of Brady Grasdal through sport, friendship and giving back.

The third annual Brady Grasdal Memorial Golf Tournament takes place Saturday, Aug. 1, at Lynbrook Golf Club, with organizers promising another day filled with golf, fundraising and community spirit.

“Throughout the tournament, around all the holes, there will be different games, extra prizes, refreshments, and a lot of fun,” said organizer Melissa Marzolf.

The weekend begins with a fundraising dinner at Bugsy’s and Smitty’s in the Town ‘n’ Country Mall on Friday, July 31, from 3 to 7 p.m. All proceeds will support the Brady Grasdal Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Tournament registration opens at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the shotgun start scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

Marzolf said the $500 entry fee per team of four includes breakfast, lunch and a golf cart.

“It’s a blast during the day with your fun games around the course.”

Honouring Brady’s legacy

Golfers will compete for prizes including longest drive, longest putt, closest to the pin, a Happy Gilmore tee shot and a hole-in-one prize.

Following the tournament, participants will gather back at the clubhouse before continuing the celebration at Boston Pizza.

“We will end back in the clubhouse at the end to be together, thinking about the legacy that Brady has left and we’re creating to keep him going on, and thinking about him all the time as we celebrate the winners and the fun day,” said Marzolf.

Brady’s mother, Amber Grasdal, said everyone is invited to continue the celebration after the tournament.

“We are going to get together at Boston Pizza for a cheers to Brady and a beautiful day.”

Scholarships continue to make an impact

Brady Grasdal is remembered as a talented hockey player, coach and community leader whose positive attitude and generosity left a lasting impression on those around him.

He played for several teams, including the Moose Jaw U15 AA Warriors and Nipawin Hawks, and later coached the U15 AA Warriors. Family and friends remember him for his passion for hockey, dedication to young athletes and a smile “that could light up the sky.”

Over the past two years, the tournament has funded 20 scholarships worth $1,500 each for student-athletes in Moose Jaw and surrounding communities.

“It’s in our community, it’s in Brady’s communities, it’s giving back to the youth and helping keep our son’s legacy alive and memory,” said Grasdal.

The scholarships recognize young people who demonstrate leadership through hockey and community involvement, reflecting Brady’s belief in developing players both on and off the ice.
