A 31-year-old man was being treated in hospital Thursday morning after he was stabbed Wednesday night in the city’s St-Michel district.
Montreal police said multiple 911 calls reporting the presence of an injured man at the corner of Villeray St. and 20th Ave. were received at about 10:15 p.m.
Officers arriving at the scene found the victim conscious and suffering from at least one stab wound in the upper body.
Initial findings of the investigation suggest the armed assault occurred after a dispute between two groups of people in a local park turned violent.
The man was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening. Meanwhile witnesses were interviewed, a canine unit deployed to search for clues and local surveillance cameras examined to determine if they recorded the incident.
By early Thursday no arrests had been reported and the investigation was continuing.
