A woman in Colorado unknowingly filmed a close encounter with a bear while trying to free her dog after it became tangled in some fallen trees.
Footage filmed by Jaylie Howell first focuses on her stranded dog, with a nearby bear already visible in the frame. Moments later, the bear growls, prompting Howell to shout and wave a large branch as her boyfriend rushes over to help, with the pair backing away after the bear turns around.
Howell said she didn’t realize the bear was there until it growled. She later said she was shocked to discover, after reviewing the footage, that the bear had been visible in the frame from the very beginning.
