Penhold soccer coach facing child sexual exploitation charges

A Penhold soccer coach has been charged with child sexual exploitation offences following a law enforcement investigation.
The Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit of Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said a suspect was arrested on July 9 with the assistance of Innisfail RCMP.
“This suspect was identified after a proactive effort by our ICE investigators to target offenders who were trading high volumes of child sexual exploitation materials online,” said ALERT Staff Sgt. Gordon MacDonald.
ICE’s investigation began in January 2026. ICE continues to investigate and forensic technicians are analyzing computers seized from the suspect’s Penhold home.
ALERT says the 46-year-old suspect was a soccer coach and board member of Penhold Minor Soccer Association. He also appeared as a children’s entertainer and a mascot in the past.
Scott McNabb has been charged with possessing, accessing and distributing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.
McNabb was released from custody on a number of court-imposed conditions, including not to be in contact with anyone under the age of 16 years old. He is next due in Red Deer Court of Justice on July 30.
