Montreal police say a man has been arrested in British Columbia in connection with a 2022 murder in Montreal’s St-Michel neighbourhood.
Police say Lee Van Smath Germain, 35, was arrested in the Vancouver area on Monday.
He faces a charge of murder, court records show.
Germain is the third person arrested in connection with the May 2022 shooting death of a man in his 30s near the corner of Shelley Ave. and Crémazie Blvd. W.
Pedro Kela, 38, and Nicko Bélisle, 27, were arrested in January.
Montreal police say the arrest is part of a broader joint investigation with Quebec provincial police that is looking into multiple murders linked to organized crime.
Dubbed Project Alliance, that investigation previously led to the arrest of several alleged Mafia leaders, including Leonardo Rizzuto and Stefano Sollecito.
Project Alliance is believed to have been supported by testimony from Frédérick Silva, a convicted hit man now serving multiple life sentences.
