Montreal police said on Friday the body of a 36-year-old man who fell into the waters of the Old Port last Sunday has been recovered.
The identity of the deceased has been confirmed by the coroner as Sarr David Vericain from Laval.
A 911 call was received at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday reporting the presence of a body floating in the river near Parc Dieppe.
The Montreal police nautical patrol located the body and Montreal firefighters recovered the remains.
Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said the body was identified as that of a man who triggered a major search operation after he fell into the waters of the Old Port on Sunday.
Coroner Steeve Poisson was mandated to conduct an investigation, according to the Quebec coroner’s office.
